When the weather is beautiful, everyone loves a picnic. Here are some ideas to make things easier.
- Homemade flavoured water can be especially refreshing. Just add a few slices of fruit!
- Place Ice cubes in a Thermos flask, so you can chill your drinks as you go and not worry about them melting.
- Use a jam jar in which to make and transport simple shaken salad dressings like balsamic, olive oil, sea salt and pepper.
- Opt for SPAR Paper Plates as they are easier to carry.
- Prepare just a few things and do them well.
- Plan carefully how much food you may eat. Take too much and you have to carry it all back.
- Popcorn: Make your own popcorn. Place in a large plastic container with a lid that seals. It is really easy to transport this way.
- Melba toast: Use dry or stale bread. Cut it as thinly as you can. Place the slices on an oven tray and dry out in an oven at about 120°C until the toast curls and is completely dry. Place in an airtight container. Snack on this at a picnic, spread with SPAR Butter, chicken liver spread or marmite.
- Vegetable Sticks: For healthy snacks try some carrot, cucumber and celery sticks with a SPAR Dip.
- Fresh Fruit: Serve fresh fruit cut into cubes. Thread pieces of apple, melon, pear, peach and banana onto kebab sticks. Serve with a little SPAR Golden Syrup or with SPAR Yoghurt.
- Ensure all picnic foods are simple to transport and not too heavy to carry. Some picnic spots can take a long walk to reach.
- Don’t forget SPAR Wet Wipes and SPAR Bin Bags – picnics are messy! Make sure the perfect picnic spot remains a perfect picnic spot.
